I run one of the agencies on this list. That is a conflict, and the way I handle it is by making every competitor claim checkable: each was verified on the firm’s own website on 5 September 2026.
Looking to hire rather than DIY? I run law firm marketing agency services on published pricing with no contract. Billed monthly, and everything I build stays yours from day one. Book a free 30-minute call
Legal is the one category where I have to report something against my own interest. In the other trades I have audited, not a single competitor mentioned contract terms anywhere. In legal, two of the four I checked do. Rankings.io and Gladiator Law Marketing both reference no-contract or month-to-month arrangements publicly. So the transparency gap I usually point to is genuinely narrower here, and you should know that before reading the rest.
The comparison
| Agency | Price published? | Contract terms published? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rankings.io | No | Yes, mentions no-contract terms | Personal injury firms with real ad budget |
| Gladiator Law Marketing | No | Yes, mentions no-contract terms | Small and mid-size firms |
| Justia | Site blocks automated checks | No | Firms wanting directory presence and profiles |
| FindLaw | Not checked, enterprise sales model | No | Larger firms wanting a single vendor |
| Sprout Sage Solutions | Yes, from $800 per month | Yes, billed monthly, no minimum term | Small firms and solo practitioners |
The category most likely to waste your money
Legal is the most expensive local search vertical there is. Personal injury clicks routinely cost more than an hour of paralegal time, and firms in that space commonly run ad budgets of $10,000 to $50,000 per month before agency fees.
If you are a small firm in family law, estate planning, immigration or employment, the important strategic point is this: do not benchmark yourself against personal injury. Those numbers describe a different business. Your acquisition cost should be a fraction of theirs, and an agency that quotes you PI-scale retainers for a family law practice is either misreading your market or hoping you will not notice.
I tell every small firm the same thing. Win the specific matters, in the specific county, where your competitors have written nothing.
What law firm marketing costs
Retainers for small firms typically run $1,500 to $5,000 per month, and personal injury goes far above that. According to Rankings.io and Gladiator Law Marketing’s public pages, checked 5 September 2026, neither publishes a specific figure, though both do address contract structure, which is more than most categories manage.
Mine is $800 per month to start and $1,500 per month for the core plan, billed monthly, no minimum term, everything in your name.
Four questions for the call
Who owns the website and the content? Legal content is expensive to produce. Losing it on exit is losing an asset you paid for.
Whose name is on the ad account?
What is the notice period, in days?
Have you handled my practice area specifically? Personal injury experience does not transfer cleanly to immigration or estate planning. The search behaviour is different and so is the buying cycle.
Where each one genuinely fits
Rankings.io is built for personal injury firms competing on serious budget, and is transparent about contract structure.
Gladiator Law Marketing works with small and mid-size firms and also states its terms publicly.
Justia is worth considering for directory presence and profile visibility rather than as a full marketing partner.
FindLaw sells to larger firms wanting one vendor across the whole stack.
Sprout Sage Solutions, mine, is for small firms and solo practitioners who want the price up front. I am not the right choice for a PI firm running $40,000 a month in ad spend, and I would tell you that on the first call.
